How to publish a site from ChatGPT: three ways
The fastest way is to drag the files onto Tuqo Drop: no account needed, and the link appears right away. If you need the site for good, create it in the panel and upload the folder. And if you want ChatGPT to publish by itself right from the chat, connect Tuqo as an MCP connector over OAuth. Here are all three paths. Keep in mind that ChatGPT itself doesn’t put anything online; it only writes the code.
Step 1. Get the files out of ChatGPT
Three working options, from simple to less simple:
- One file. Say: “put everything into one
index.html, styles and scripts inside”. One file is easier to move than three, and copying won’t break it. - Canvas. If the code is open in Canvas, it has a download button. Save the file as
index.htmlin an empty folder: that will be the site’s home page. - An archive. For several files, ask: “pack the files into a zip and give me a
download link”. ChatGPT builds the archive with its code execution tool. Check that
index.htmlsits at the root of the archive, not inside a nested folder.
Copy code with the button above the block, not by selecting it with the mouse: a manual selection drags line numbers and bits of explanation into the file, and the browser shows them as plain text at the top of the page.
Way 1. Drop: no account, one minute
Open Tuqo Drop and drag the site folder onto it. A minute later the site is live
at an address like drop.tuqo.ru/drop-a1b2c3…/, and you can send the link to a client or
a chat right away.
What to know about a draft:
- it needs
index.htmlat the root and static files only: HTML, CSS, JS, images, fonts; - up to 100 files and 10 MB;
- links must be relative (
href="style.css", nothref="/style.css"); - the draft is hidden from search engines, carries a notice bar and lives 24 hours.
Along with the site’s address you get a claim link: one click moves the site into a free
account, gives it a permanent name.tuqo.ru address and stops the deletion. Details are
in the guide on publishing without signing up.
Way 2. A folder in the panel
If you need a permanent site, sign up, create a site in the panel, then drag the folder into the upload area on the Deploys tab. The publish is instant: no build runs, and the files are served as they are.
The panel is smarter than a plain browser drop: it strips an extra top level by itself (if
you drag a site/ folder, its contents become the root) and quietly throws out junk:
anything starting with a dot, and node_modules. Folder upload limits: up to 2,000 files
and about 36 MB; a tar.gz or zip archive, up to 50 MB.
Besides a permanent address, an account gives you forms and free SSL even on the Free plan, while custom domains, kept past versions and sites without the badge come with paid plans, from 590 ₽/mo. Prices are in rubles; the pricing page shows approximate dollars and euros.
Way 3. A connector: ChatGPT publishes by itself
ChatGPT supports external MCP connectors in Developer Mode. Set it up once, and from then on you write “publish this site” in the chat, and it creates the site and returns the address.
- Settings → Connectors → turn on Developer Mode.
- Add a connector with the address
https://mcp.tuqo.ru/mcp. No key to paste: sign-in is over OAuth. - ChatGPT sends you to Tuqo: sign in, then choose the project and the access level (read-only, editor or full).
- Ask: “lay out a page and put it online”.
Step by step: Deploy from ChatGPT. The same page explains which ChatGPT plans get the full set of tools. You can revoke access at any time: panel → project → AI connections.
ChatGPT pitfalls
- The code is cut off halfway. Long pages hit the response length limit. Ask it to
“continue from the last line” or split the site into files:
index.html,styles.css,script.js. - Placeholder images from other sites. ChatGPT links to placeholder services; some of them don’t open for visitors in Russia, which leaves holes on the page.
- Styles from a CDN. Tailwind or Bootstrap from someone else’s server works, but loads slower and depends on that server. For a landing page, plain CSS inside the file is simpler.
- A form with no submit address. ChatGPT writes
action="#"oralert()instead of sending anything. Take the form code from the site’s Forms tab: submissions will arrive in the panel, by email and in Telegram.
After every publish Tuqo runs 14 checks and shows what is worth fixing:
broken paths, localhost, resources over http://, a missing viewport, a form with no
submit address, keys in the files. Nothing is blocked; these are recommendations. The
guide on what AI breaks in sites goes through each one.
A prompt that gets a site published with no edits
Build a one-page site about [topic] as a single index.html file: styles and scripts
inside, no external libraries and no images from other sites, relative paths only,
with lang="en", meta charset UTF-8, meta viewport and a meaningful title.
Don't connect the form to a server: I'll add the submit address after publishing.
Output the file in full as one code block, with no explanations inside the code.
FAQ
Do I need an account to publish a site from ChatGPT?
Not for the first publish: Drop puts the files online without an account for 24 hours. To keep the site for good and give it its own address, claim the draft into a free account.
The site works on my computer but has no styles after publishing
Almost always it’s the paths: absolute ones (/style.css) or links to files on your disk.
Ask ChatGPT to rewrite them as relative: styles.css, images/photo.jpg. The report after
publishing lists the links that point to missing files.
Can I update the site right from the chat?
With the connector, yes: “change the price in the pricing section” produces a new version in seconds. On paid plans the previous one stays for a rollback.
What if ChatGPT made a project that needs a build?
If the set contains package.json, it can’t be published as plain files. Upload an
archive with the source code instead: Tuqo builds it on Node 20 and takes the result from
dist, build or out. More in the guide on
deploying a Vite project.
